Programme Officer – Remote Sensing & GIS

Job description

WWF-India, one of the largest conservation organizations, engaged in wildlife and nature conservation in the country, invites applications from candidates with an inherent sensitivity towards the conservation of nature and environment, to work as the Programme Officer – Remote Sensing & GIS.
 
Location: New Delhi.
 
The Job Profile:
 
1.       Data acquisition and satellite image processing of remote sensing imagery
2.       Data Capturing, digitization, image processing of satellite Imagery
3.       Image rectification and classification
4.       GIS map production and geo database design tasks for different projects with special focus on spatial analysis and mapping
5.       Develop methodologies for data analysis and modeling to support decision-making particularly for wildlife and forest conservation
6.       Land cover change detection analyses, preparation and submission of final project database and reports
7.       Presentation and quality map development; design and create maps based on the needs of various GIS Projects
8.       Advanced geographic analysis using both spatial and attribute information
9.       Generation of technical report, create and update necessary documents
10.   Compilation of all GIS and Remote sensing data and handling of GPS (Global Positioning System), as and when required
 
 

Qualifications, Experience and competencies required:


·       Master’s degree from a recognized institute preferably in Environmental Science and knowledge of Remote Sensing & GIS Techniques
·       Minimum 3 years of experience of working on GIS and Remote Sensing projects.
  • Good knowledge of Erdas Imagine, Arc View, Arc GIS and other related software.
 
Desired Skills and Abilities:


·       Good interpersonal and communication skill (both verbal & written).
·       Good analytical and report writing skills
·       Task-oriented with an ability to work within given timelines.
·       Flexibility and willingness to learn.
